Do you ever just look at your pants and think to yourself, are my pants black? There has been a recent debate going on with the uniforms. The Brio uniforms are blue polo and solid black pants, These black pants have become a problem as students receive reminders for not wearing Black pants. At first this doesn’t seem as a problem as all you have to do is just wear black plants. But students have received reminders for wearing pants that “are not black enough.” 

This is an issue as how could students know if their pants are “black enough”?

Jairo Orozco said, “When I was in line for Ms. Mtenga’s class, she told me that I have to change my pants as they were not the right shade of black.” 

This is unfair as some think that their pants are “black enough” so they buy it. But just for a teacher to tell them their pants aren’t “black enough,” This would be an issue as this would cause the student to have to go buy another pair of pants. And in some cases parents would be called so that they can bring the student a pair of black pants and sometimes, maybe the parent doesn’t have time or is at work, which is a bother.

One solution that will easily fix this is to let students wear any type of black as long it is black. This shouldn’t be an issue as the students already have their uniform and would affect the fact that they are still representing Brio. For example, students should be able to wear washed black denim as it is still black and would still fit in the Brio policy of wearing black bottoms. Although this would be a long shot it is still a good idea that can easily fix this problem.
